ZDHC has announced that the updated version of its Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL) will include PFAS treatments used for textiles, leather and footwear. The MRSL Version 3.0 will be published by ZDHC on the Roadmap to Zero website (www.roadmaptozero.com) on Nov. 1, 2022, with a transition period of 12 months for effective implementation by all stakeholders. The ZDHC MRSL offers the industry a harmonized list of banned chemicals and enables the ZDHC Gateway Chemical Module, the industry’s largest list of safe alternative chemical formulations that meet the ZDHC MRSL requirement. In addition to a restriction on all PFAS substances, other notable changes in the latest update of the ZDHC MRSL include a limit for aniline in dyestuffs and the inclusion of a number of organic solvents.
