Dahon, the folding bike company based in California, is planning to go public on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. It has also formed a new subsidiary in Taiwan that wil handle R&D, purchasing and the distribution of its products in Taiwan. Founded by David Hon, a physicist who had been working in California for Hughes Aircraft Corporation as an expert in laser technology, Dahon started producing its folding bikes at a factory that he set up in Taiwan in 1982, but most of them are now manufactured at a new plant that the company set up in Shenzhen in 1995.
