Danny Orr, product manager at Somnio, a Californian brand of athletic footwear with adjustable midsoles, is to take over the helm of its European operations from the end of this month. He replaces Saskia Stock, who is leaving to become marketing director at Black Diamond Europe, replacing Thomas Hodel from April. Somnio was just introduced in Europe last year, from an office in Switzerland where it employs two people. Apart from a few distributors across Europe, Somnio has its own sales staff in the U.K. and Spain, and is preparing to hire a German sales manager. It has already achieved strong recognition, including this year's Runner's World Ispo Award for Best Running Footwear. Somnio should double its turnover this year, with about half of its sales coming from outside the U.S. market.
