The number of padel facilities and courts in Italy continues to grow. According to data from Osservatorio Mr Padel Paddle, 479 new facilities and 1,219 courts have been set up since Jan. 1, bringing the total to 2,323 facilities and 5,908 courts nationwide. The increase has been 26 percent for both facilities and courts compared to Dec. 31, 2021. The region of Lazio is confirmed as the first region, with 478 padel facilities and 1,500 courts as of June 21st, representing a 15 percent and 17 percent increase, respectively. Lazio hosts 21 percent of the country’s padel facilities and 25 percent of the courts. Both figures have gone down from 25 percent and 30 percent a year earlier, showing that the sport has been growing in the other regions as well. Lombardy occupies the second spot, with 231 facilities and 669 courts, up 27 percent compared to Dec. 31, 2021. Sicily, Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna complete the Top 5 by region. All the 20 regions of Italy have registered double-digit growth in the number of facilities and courts since Dec. 31, 2021.
