Shortly after GfK SE and Nielsen IQ have announced their merger in July 2022, the company expanded its gfknewron data platform with a new gfknewron retail sector. According to GfK, the new platform is designed to help retailers identify market developments and sales potential and compare their own performance with the rest of the market. The gfknewron Retail Consumer module also helps retailers to understand their own target groups and those of their competitors. In addition, the platform provides information on what are important purchase triggers, how customers behave along the entire customer journey and which touchpoints have the greatest influence on the final purchase decision.
The GfK analyses and recommendations for retailers are based on two data sources that are made possible by the merger of Nielsen IQ and GfK: the largely weekly sales figures from 130,000 points of sale (at individual item level) and data from the world’s largest tracking study among actual buyers of consumer durables. For partnering retailers, the basic version of the service is free of charge.
