David Ingemie is retiring as president of Snow Sports Industries of America (SIA) after 34 years in the position. He joined the association 39 years ago as marketing director, working a lot to promote U.S. consumers' participation in snow sports. He had already indicated his intention to step down last May. A successor is due to be named by next June. Interestingly, Ingemie's resignation comes a few months after that of Frank Hugelmeyer at the head of the Outdoor Industry Association, which has been considering a merger with SIA. The idea was to create a big industry show for the outdoor and snow sports industries in the winter. Hugelmeyer will pay a visit to the Ispo show in Munich this week.
