Ken Block, the co-founder of DC Shoes, died in a snowmobile accident near his home in Park City, Utah, on Monday, Jan. 2. Block was 55 years old. He is survived by his wife and three children.
After selling his ownership of DC Shoes, Block shifted his business focus to Hoonigan Industries, an apparel brand for car enthusiasts. He is best known for his spectacular drift videos, which brought the sport of Gymkhana to an audience of hundreds of millions. His popularity earned him numerous appearances in video games, including Need for Speed. Block also competed in professional rally racing and he was involved in the rallycross scene. He was one of the figureheads of the community. During his influencer career, he worked with major automakers, including Subaru, Ford, Audi and Porsche. Most recently, he got involved with Audi’s e-tron division by performing his impressive stunts with an electric car.
