Following the successful launch of Buy Back, Decathlon Germany is expanding its next-day delivery with reduced CO2 emissions to additional cities. This involves the delivery of orders as early as the following day using electrically powered cargo bikes, which save CO2 compared to the usual means of transport, such as a delivery truck. The company wants to offer its customers an environmentally conscious alternative to normal shipping.
Following a successful pilot project at the Elisenhof and Mona-Center stores in Munich with local partner Glocally, Decathlon is now expanding this service to include Berlin and Cologne. Next-day delivery by cargo bike in Berlin is now possible via the Berlin branch at Alexanderplatz. In total, 163 Berlin zip code areas can be serviced. Customers can even specify a preferred delivery time. In Cologne, 38 zip code areas are served via the store in Cologne-Marsdorf. Decathlon is implementing the project in Berlin and Cologne with the delivery service Fairsenden, a deep-tech startup founded in 2019.
According to Decathlon, other cities such as Hamburg or Frankfurt are in the planning stage.
