Décathlon has released the first results of its test phase with Packcity, an automated in-store locker that allows customers to collect the items they have previously bought on-line. Nine stores were equipped with the automated locker solution before Christmas, to test the solution during a particularly busy time of year. The machine was installed in the Décathlon stores of Paris Wagram, Paris Porte de Montreuil, Paris Aquaboulevard, Paris CNIT La Défense, Bois Sénart, Claye Souilly, Herblay, and Noisy-le-Sec. Outside of the Parisian area, one automated locker was installed at Lille Flandres. The French retailer said that during these first few months, 96 percent of the orders were made available in the machines within two days. Customers have collected their products the same day in 40 percent of cases, and the day after in 28 percent of cases. Customers tend to collect products in the evening or at lunchtime: on-line orders have been collected after 5pm in 42 percent of cases, and between noon and 3pm in 34 percent of cases.
