Decathlon is planning to open new stores in the downtown areas of Brussels, Dresden and Munich. They will use to some extent the new urban Decathlon City format, concentrating on only a few product categories and complementing them with online purchases from its website. Focusing on cycling, running and fitness, the Brussels store will measure about 1,500 square meters. It is set to open on Nov. 29 in a new centrally located shopping center, The Mint. The store in the German city of Dresden, which was supposed to go live in the autumn, is now expected to open next spring across from the central railway station, measuring 2,600 square meters. A new mall in downtown Munich is reportedly set to host the second Decathlon store in the city, measuring 1,550 square meters, from the second half of 2018. The company's first Munich store, opened last year in an underground shopping mall below Karlsplatz, measured only 220 square meters, featuring internet kiosks that give customers access to Decathlon's catalog for orders placed online
