Decathlon is preparing to open a store in Neuchâtel, Switzerland in the second half of the summer. This will be the French retailer's first outlet in Switzerland, one of the few European countries where Decathlon does not yet have a presence. The store is set to open in the Marin-Epagnier commercial center - anchored by Migros, the owner of Sport XX, which has a store nearby. Decathlon is to fill the space currently occupied by Micasa, a Migros store. It will be led by Sarah Bernard, who has been with Decathlon for nine years. She said she would be the only expatriate employee from France at the store, and she is currently putting together a Swiss team of sports enthusiasts who have insights into the specific aspects of Swiss sports participation. Bernard adds that Decathlon has a development plan for the country but it's too early to discuss details. The group previously created an online store for Switzerland and registered at the commercial chamber of Geneva, according to a local newspaper, Le Temps.
