Augusto Felix is the new CEO of Decathlon Italy. He takes over the role of Fulvio Matteoni. Felix, who served as city leader of Decathlon Milano for the past year, has been with the company for more than 25 years. After starting with Decathlon France in Montesson in 1996, he worked in one of the Decathlon stores in Paris. In 2015, he was responsible for the launch of Decathlon in Colombia, where he led the opening of eight stores.
The company has also announced the upcoming inauguration of a Decathlon City in Milan, located at Corso Buenos Aires 59. It will be the 7th Decathlon store in Milan but the first in town based on the smaller “City” format to get closer to the people who work and live in the city center. The official opening is scheduled for June 16. The 1,200-square-meter store, dubbed Decathlon Milano Baires, will have 40 employees, including 34 new hires. The store will also offer its customers a series of free activities in partnership with local sports clubs and associations.
Decathlon opened eight new stores in Italy in 2021 alone, bringing the total in the country to 137. More openings are scheduled for June in Naples, Jesolo, Carini and Rome Collatina. One more opening is also planned for July in Ostia, near Rome.
