Decathlon and Gruppo VéGé, an Italian food cooperative, have teamed up on a national project to support amateur sports associations. The partnership provides financial support for clubs, gyms and sports associations, with the final objective to supply sports apparel and equipment for more than 2,500 amateur sports organizations.
The collaborative project, which will run from Sept. 11 to Dec. 11, involves all 28 VéGé grocery stores and 136 Decathlon stores across Italy. For every €15 spent, VéGé’s customers will get a QR code printed on their receipt. They will be able to get additional QR codes if their shopping includes items designed as “accelerator products.” The QR codes thus collected will be for use for donations to one of the amateur sports associations that have registered for the initiative, chosen by the customer from the list of such associations. The sports associations that collect the most QR codes will receive Decathlon digital gift cards worth €500 or €1,000. The rewarded associations will also benefit from a 10 percent discount on Decathlon list prices.
