Decathlon Russia has opened its first store that is not attached to a shopping center, measuring 4,800 square meters of net selling space, after purchasing a land parcel of three hectares in a dormitory district of St. Petersburg. The company said it plans to add four doors in the same format in the country by 2020 and a total of 11 by 2022, building them up from scratch. The new stores would house “test zones” where customers can try out products before buying them, for example in the areas of table tennis, football, basketball and archery right in the store. About 90 percent of the products would be sold under the company's own brands.
