Décathlon, which is developing strongly in the Chinese mainland, has reportedly obtained governmental approval to open between 10 and 12 superstores in Taiwan over the next five years. The total investment is said to be nearly €300 million including a new office and a distribution center. One of Décathlon's arguments has been the fact that the mammoth retailers is sourcing a lot from the island state. It bought goods worth more than €80 million from more than 100 Taiwanese suppliers in 2010, amounting to 3 percent of its global purchases, and it plans to raise the total in the future.
