Denying a report that we picked out after it came out in the Japanese press, Asics says it has no intention of coming out with hiking shoes. In 2012, this will be the job of Haglöfs, the Swedish outdoor company that it took over last year. Asics will instead expand its “trail walking” business in Europe. According to another report, Asics is coming out with a new minimalistic collection of shoes, called 33 by Asics, but officials of Asics Europe point out that this will only occur in the U.S. for the time being.
