Derby Cycle has set up a direct sales unit in Australia that replaces its former distributor there, Green Apple Sports, from which it bought the inventories and customer receivables. Graeme Moffett, the owner and managing director of Green Apple Sports, was appointed managing director of Derby Cycle's Australian business. Derby currently sells racing and mountain bikes in the country under the Focus brand. Overall, about 1.2 million units are sold per year in Australia for around A$1.0 billion (€756.7m-$1,069m) at retail prices. The market is benefiting from strong demand in the sports retail segment.
