Descente and Wacoal have announced an alliance aimed at strengthening both companies' domestic and international growth, benefiting from their expertise in sportswear and fashion, respectively. The two Japanese companies will work on new opportunities in the athleisure market as well as new brand concepts. The alliance envisages collaboration around compression wear, sports baselayer and swimwear. The two firms will collaborate on product development, design, marketing, and distribution, utilizing both of their distribution channels. The alliance is to help global growth by exploiting Descente's significant presence in Asia and Wacoal's apparently strong business base in Europe and America. Collaboration will also involve e-commerce by creating a linkage between the domestic and overseas e-commerce sites for both companies. Collaboration will extend to the junior wear category, with the creation of new brands in this segment.
