Descente made a comprehensive net income of 2,041 million yen (€15.9m-$18.6m) in the first quarter ended June 30 versus a loss of ¥1,389 million in the same period of last year. Excluding the foreign exchange effect and other items, net earnings fell by 27 percent to ¥764 million (€5.9m-$7.0m). Sales grew by 8 percent to ¥30.18 billion (€234.5m-$275.2m), and they rose in every region, driven by the Descente and Arena brands. The acquisition of Inov-8 helped boost the company's combined sales in Europe and the U.S. by 50 percent to ¥885 million (€6.9m-$8.1m) in the quarter. Sales grew by 9 percent in Japan and by 6 percent in the rest of Asia. The outlook for the full year calls for 6 percent higher sales of ¥139 billion (€1.1bn-$1.3bn) generating one percent better earnings of ¥5.7 billion (€44.3m-$51.9m).
