Dorel Industries, the company that owns bike brands such as Cannondale, GT, Mongoose and Schwinn, reports a 9.1 percent sales increase to $229.0 million for its recreational & leisure segment, thanks in part to the timing of shipments to the mass market. On an organic and currency-neutral basis, the segment's revenues were up by 11 percent for the quarter and by 8 percent for the first nine months of the year. The gross margin improved to 24.2 percent in the quarter. Operating income rose by 25 percent to $12.5 million, largely because Sugoi stopped losing money.
