Drapers reports that JD Sports & Fashion has acquired 2Squared Agency, a sales and distribution company from Manchester. The agency is selling brands such as Havaianas, Mercer, Swims and Diadora in the U.K. The agency was established in 2009 by Martyn Harrison and Neil Corrie, who spent several years with the JD Sports group. He was a sportswear buyer for Size, the group's retail brand specializing in sports fashion footwear, and then became buying and retail director for JD's fashion division. Corrie also co-founded Elusive Distribution, another agency that has since closed, and he was a consultant for Crooked Tongues, Asos' online sneaker store. It appears that 2Squared Agency was in financial trouble, Drapers reports, but that the takeover does not entail any redundancies. JD Sports Fashion has been on the acquisition trail in the last year, snapping up retail assets of the Unlimited Sports Group (USG) in the Netherlands and Go Outdoors, the British outdoor retailer, among others.
