Online marketplace eBay has announced that it has expanded its Authenticity Guarantee program to cover new and pre-owned kids’ sneakers sold in the U.K. for £100 or more. The company said that eligible sneakers in infant, toddler and kids’ sizing will go through the same process as adults’ shoes at its authentication facility. The move is connected with the ongoing increase in the demand for children’s sneakers. Once a purchase is made, the seller will send it directly to eBay’s independent authenticators for a comprehensive physical inspection that includes a verification of the box, sizing labels, logo, stitching, soles and other features against the seller’s description and photo on the online platform. Following the verification, eBay states a unique tag featuring NFC chip technology that is applied to the left sneaker, providing authentication about the pair. The sneakers are now ready to be sent to the buyer. The process also helps sellers who choose to offer returns via a verified returns procedure. The returns are shipped to the authentication center, where the marketplace’s specialists verify them and their condition before returning them to the seller.
