Indicating that it may develop into a marketplace for other retailers, the Swedish-based Footway Group announced the recruitment of a top manager from the H&M Group, Daniel Claesson, to serve as chief commercial officer, starting next Jan. 1. He acted most recently as chief product office at the H&M Group, where he worked in various roles since 2008, including those of global business development manager and global e-commerce manager. His role at Footway will be to optimize the offer of each store. Footway is an international internet platform that currently operates eight web stores with sales in 24 markets. In addition to the international web store of Sportamore, acquired in April 2020, it trades as Footway, Caliroots, Solestory, Heppo, Brandosa, Belapadel and Runforest. In a press release, Footway says that, “in addition to acquiring and starting its own stores on the platform, it is also optimized to be able to grow with external stores” that will be able to use the platform’s economies of scale in areas such as reach, logistics and customer support.
