Part of’s “Leave No Footprints” environmental and sustainability strategy was the plan to become carbon neutral, which the U.K. online retailer achieved last April. Now the company aims to become the world’s most sustainable retailer of running gear. To achieve this ambitious goal, it has commissioned British Midlands-based sustainable innovation consultancy Ape to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the company’s carbon footprint, which was estimated at 918 tons of CO2 in 2020. The biggest contributors are packaging and consumables, as well as international shipping. has a program in place to reduce both, but acknowledges in its sustainability report that “some things are really complex with no clear answer.” At the same time, however, the company is optimistic and says „We are in it for the long haul because this is a marathon, not a sprint.” offers customers more than 17,000 products from 150 global running and outdoor brands. In its last full financial year ending February 28, 2021, reported a 37 percent increase in revenue to a record £92.2 million.
