DW Fitness First has launched a summer campaign to promote family fitness in the U.K., called The School Run. The initiative is to encourage parents to get active with their kids. The company has also launched a new family fitness guide, with exercise routines specifically designed to keep children entertained and get the whole family working out together. According to a research study commissioned by DW Fitness First, more than a third of parents in the U.K. would like to start exercising with their kids, but less than one third of families currently do exercise together. When questioned about family fitness, more than 70 percent of parents said they find they connect better with their children when exercising with them. Furthermore, 74 percent of parents said they have put on weight after having children, while only 7 percent of parents claimed having kids had not affected their weight. Time is a key issue. More than 80 percent of parents said they have lost between one and five hours per week from their exercise regime since having children.
