Earlier this week, the Japan Fair Trade Commission raided Adidas Group's subsidiary there, saying the company was pressuring retailers to sell its Reebok EasyTone shoes for a fixed price. Japanese news sources have reported that Adidas was discouraging retailers from discounting the shoes, insisting they sell for the equivalent of $118 to $177, and suspending shipments to stores that would not do so. EasyTones have been sold in Japan since 2009, and make up half the toning shoe market there.
