Ebay has launched a new pilot project aiming to win new sellers that as of now is limited to only ebay.de and ebay.at, for Germany and Austria respectively. For the first time ever, Ebay is letting buyers pay Ebay for their goods; then Ebay will transfer the money to the seller. Previously buyers had to pay the sellers directly. According to the platform's market research, the main reason buyers won't spend more for an item is that they hesitate to bid or buy with sellers they do not know. If Ebay takes the money itself, that may give buyers an additional argument that the buying procedures at Ebay are safe.
