El Corte Inglés, the Spanish retailer, has appointed Manuel Pizarro in the new function of vice president, focusing on finance. A former partner at the law firm Baker & McKenzie, Pizarro could help to deal with debt restructuring efforts set in motion by the Spanish retailer about a year ago, in partnership with six banking groups. El Corte Inglés had previously announced that it wanted to improve its financing structure, to enable further expansion in Spain and beyond. On the other hand, the retailer has lost its fashion director, José Luis Pavia, who left the company on amicable terms last week.
