England Rugby aims to get 10,000 more women playing the sport by 2017. The Rugby Football Union (RFU), which is the national governing body for grassroots and elite rugby in England, is holding a countrywide series of free rugby sessions called Pitch up and Play, open to women of all abilities. The program includes an introduction to match play and fitness. England won the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2014 and the organization wants to capitalize on that success to make rugby accessible and attractive to women of all abilities.
