Erbacher, the German ski brand that has been out of business for a while, is coming back on the scene. Kramer Elastics, a Nuremberg-based company owned by Andreas Kramer, has acquired the global license to market hardgoods for winter sports under this name. Kramer plans to enhance the skis and snowboards he sells with new patents and technologies. Erbacher was founded in 1900. A little while back, Rosi Mittermaier and Christian Neureuther, the retired ski champions, tried to keep the company afloat to no avail. Since then Gerd Mayer has owned the rights to the brand name through his company, Erbacher Ski + Tennis. Kramer has hired Michael Menzel, 57, to handle sales of the revived brand in the German-speaking countries. He adds this to his roles as general agent for Vist in Germany and Austria and as German agent for Par 72.
