Erik Cherdak, an American who got a patent in 1995 for an “athletic shoe with training device,” has launched a federal lawsuit in Alexandria, Virginia, against Nike and Apple, claiming that their Nike+ technology infringes his patent as well as U.S. antitrust regulations. The infringing products named in the complaint are Nike's Tailwind, M3 Run and +Sportband products. The suit points out that more than 70 Nike shoe styles and 80 million Apple iPhones incorporate Nike+ technology.
