EuroSIMA, the European Boardsports Industry Manufacturers Association, and the EuroSIMA Cluster have handed out their innovation awards. Völkl won the 2010 Ecological Innovation Prize, worth €5,000, for its Cashew, Yavana and Vice eco-friendly snowboards. Sport Contrôle took the Technological Innovation Prize, also €5,000, for its Sorky protective earplugs developed with Sympatex. They are designed to help protect ears from infections and other problems linked with aquatic activities. Also, Newtis won the Call for Innovation Projects. The young French company uses polycarbonate materials in its eco-friendly JAB Surfboards. Newtis wins a grant of €10,000.
