Evans Cycles of the U.K. is being sold by Active Private Equity to ECI Partners. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Active Private Equity had bought its controlling interest in the company, at the time a family-owned chain, in 2008 for about £35 million (€47.6m-$53.0m). The company has since grown into the largest multi-channel bike retailer in the U.K., serving customers through 56 shops and an e-commerce platform. On completion of the transaction, ECI will take a majority stake in the business, with the remainder held by management including the chief executive, Nick Wilkinson. Evans' management team will continue to manage the business, in partnership with ECI.
