The America’s Cup is the world’s oldest international sports trophy.

The Italian government, in conjunction with Team New Zealand and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, has officially announced Italy as the host country and Naples as the host city for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, scheduled for the spring and summer of 2027. For the first time ever, the Louis Vuitton Cup and Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Match will be sailed in Italy.

“The event is set to be the most significant sporting occasion ever hosted by Naples, transforming the city’s iconic Gulf into a stage for spectacular races among the world’s elite sailing teams,” said the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi.

For the first time ever, the Louis Vuitton Cup and Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Match will be sailed in Italy.

Naples previously hosted two America’s Cup World Series events in 2012 and 2013 in the lead up to the 34th America’s Cup. The two events attracted more than one million people, who turned up to watch the racing from the Naples waterfront.

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron is the current holder and Trustee of the America’s Cup. Italy missed out on making the final in 2024, when the Luna Rossa boat lost out to Great Britain’s Ineos Britannia.

Further details on the planning of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup will be announced at a later stage.
