Sportswear brand and fitness community Gymshark has appointed Carly O’Brien as vice president of marketing, whose role will be to make the brand “a household name,” according to media reports. In addition to driving growth and brand awareness for the online activewear giant in the U.K. and internationally, O’Brien will also be responsible for launching a regionalized marketing strategy. This is part of the plan to drive the company’s growth in the UK and the EMEA and APAC regions.

O’Brien joins Gymshark from her role as CMO at The Very Group. She joined the retail group in 2019 as director of customer management and performance marketing. During her time at Very, she led a team of more than 200 employees across marketing, business transformation and community support. Marketing Week ranked her in the top 100 most effective marketers in 2021. Prior to Very, O’Brien spent more than 15 years in marketing and transformation roles at some of the biggest names in personal finance, including Virgin Money, NatWest Group and Bank of America.
