Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR), the company behind the eponymous rating system, has new ownership and a new board of directors, thanks to $8 million in funding from new investors.

Chief among these is David Kass, real estate developer and owner of the Columbus Pickleball Club and now owner and chairman of DUPR. Among the investors who will now be serving on the board are retired tennis star Andre Agassi; Gordon Rubenstein, Managing Partner at Raine Ventures (a subsidiary of The Raine Group); Jay Farner, CEO of Ronin Capital Partners and ex-CEO of Rocket Companies; Brian Yeager, Chairman and CEO of The Champions Companies; and R. Blane Walter, founder of InChord Communications. Tito Machado retains his post as CEO.

DUPR says its product provides an “ageless, genderless rating” for some half-million users in about 140 countries and has enjoyed growth of 20 percent month over month since the company’s founding in 2021. According to Kass, it enables “players to know their level, connect with friends and players, join clubs, and unlock advanced analytics, training tools and opportunities for upskilling.” The system’s algorithm takes into account wins and losses, types of matches (recreational or tournament), and the rating spread between players.
