The Financial Times reports that Felicia Mayo, who has served as Nike’s chief talent, diversity and culture officer since July 2020, will leave the company at the end of July 2022. Mayo joined Nike from Tesla in 2019. She succeeded Kellie Leonard, the company’s first-ever diversity and inclusion director, in July 2020, when some Nike employees complained that the company was cultivating a “boys club” culture. Leonard, at the time an 18-year veteran of Nike, left “to pursue other interests.” The position was created in 2018. The Financial Times wrote that it obtained the information from an internal memo. Nike has not yet responded to requests for comment. The memo also reportedly said that Jarvis Sam, VP of global diversity & inclusion at Nike since July 2020, will take over Mayo’s responsibilities.
