Peloton has appointed Kathryn Carter as General Manager for Australia. Carter will be responsible for growing and managing Peloton’s business in the country, overseeing various functions, including retail, operations, marketing and communications, and business partnerships. Carter replaces former country lead Amanda Gilmore, who has taken a new role with Peloton in the U.K., where she is responsible for Peloton’s U.K. business and market expansion strategy.
Following previous roles at SNAP Inc. and News Corp, Carter has a deep understanding of the Australian market and has built a reputation for delivering commercial results in new and established markets and scaling global brands regionally.
“Australia is a leading fitness market and an important part of Peloton’s international growth strategy,” said Manu Seigner, VP of International Peloton. “Whether it’s the Peloton Bike, Tread or App, we are giving Australians the ability to workout anytime, anywhere, regardless of where they are in their fitness journey. Kathryn brings great experience in growing brands and communities and will be an asset to Peloton as more Australians discover and benefit from the motivating fitness experiences that we offer.”
Since Peloton entered the Australian market in 2021, the brand has built a growing community of Australians who actively engage with Peloton’s content and interactive technology via the Peloton App, Peloton Bike and Bike+, Peloton Tread and Peloton Guide. Earlier this year, Peloton launched its premium treadmill and cardio experience to improve the way Australians walk, run and train toward their fitness goals. The Peloton app also now offers three new subscription levels, including a free version that lets customers choose to work out with or without equipment – at home, outdoors or in the gym, independently or with guidance.
The brand has built a number of local partnerships, including the ability for Australians to purchase its hardware through Qantas Marketplace with their Qantas Frequent Flyer Points, and became an official sponsor of City2Surf 2023. Recently, Peloton partnered with the country’s largest hotel operator, Accor, to launch an initiative that allows guests to earn loyalty points for workouts completed during their stay.
