The Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) has renewed its partnership with the European School Sport Day initiative, which aims to encourage schools to get children on the move. The event is held every year in September, during the European Week of Sport. The European School Sport Day is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the EU. In 2020, despite the limitations on physical education and school sport during the pandemic, 3,789 schools in 38 countries celebrated the European School Sport Day, getting 2 million school children to participate in physical activities for at least 120 minutes on that day. This year’s European School Sport Day will take place on Sept. 24, and it is expected to be celebrated also outside of Europe. Events can be hosted on school grounds or streamed online to students who are still attending school remotely due to national lockdown restrictions. FESI has already launched an appeal to its members to collect sporting goods that will be donated to children ahead of the 2021 European Week of Sport in September. The European School Sport Day is coordinated by the Hungarian School Sport Federation (HSSF) in cooperation with the European Physical Education Association (EUPEA), Youth Sport Trust International, the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA), BG Be Active and V4Sport, with the support of national coordinators in more than 40 countries.
