Fibo China will be held again at yet unspecified dates next year, after the first edition held in Shanghai in September drew more visitors than expected. The organizers said that some 4,238 visitors came from 40 countries to find out about the latest trends in the Chinese market at the three-day fair. They estimate that the number of members in Chinese fitness clubs has increased by 8.4 percent on average in each of the last five years, to reach about 13 million members – and the numbers are likely to rise further due to the government's support of the industry. Covering about 2,000 square meters, the fair boasted 55 exhibitors representing about 100 brands, including international brands that do not exhibit at Chinese fairs. It also hosted the Fibo China Fitness Summit at the Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel, with presentations describing fitness trends and market dynamics in China. Other events were the China Yoga Instructor and Club Management Summit, the 1st Asia-Fit Convention and the seventh Asia-Fit Private Trainers Festival, which drew about 1,000 trainers and studio managers. Fitness is one of the dynamic market categories that are studied in detail in our upcoming report on the Chinese sports market, as described elsewhere in this issue.
