SportChek, the retail segment of publicly traded Canadian Tire, suffered a 1.7 percent decline in Q4 comparable store sales due to lower outerwear sales and “higher promotional intensity” in its markets. The 375-door group, under several banners, posted a 1.9 percent increase in Q4 sales to C$637.9 million (€460.9m) from C$625.8 million. For the full year, revenues rose by 3.1 percent to C$2,099.2 million (€1,534.7m) from C$2,036.5 million despite last year’s exit from the 180-door National Sports chain. Annual comparable store sales, against a difficult year-ago comparison of +17.7 percent, increased by 1.8 percent.
