Revenues for this year’s second quarter were up by 49 percent year-on-year at Formula One Group. The subsidiary of Liberty Media pulled in $744 million, most of it derived as usual from media rights, sponsorships and promotion of the seven races run during the period. Operating income for the quarter increased from last year’s loss of $36 million to a gain of $65 million.
Governmental decrees capped attendance at races run in 2021, especially in the first half. Formula One “does not expect its results in 2022 to be impacted by such capacity limitations, though fan attendance continues to be assessed by relevant government authorities on a race-by-race basis.” The company says H1 2022 saw “record attendance” and has 22 races scheduled for the entirety of 2022.
