The Intersport banner enjoyed a strong recovery in the second quarter on a global basis. Intersport International Corp. reports a 32.2 percent overall increase in the retail members’ sales during the second quarter of 2021, achieving an almost similar level as in the second quarter of 2019.

The strong growth was recorded in the majority of the markets, in some cases even doubling from the levels of a year ago. However, Germany and the Netherlands were severely impacted by the Covid-related retail lockdowns imposed by government authorities, yet Steve Evers, president of IIC, says a “great recovery” has been experienced there since June.

For the first six months of this year, the global Intersport network’s sales growth was limited at 10.5 percent for the first six months of this year, as the first quarter was affected by the retail lockdowns as well as the closure of ski facilities in many important markets.

Evers added that Intersport is on schedule with the development of its e-commerce operations, as they have been enjoying ongoing growth in spite of the reopening of physical doors in many countries.
