Mizuno Corp. total revenues rose by 7.8 percent to 46.2 billion yen (€334.1m) from ¥42.9 billion in the first quarter ended June 30. Golf and recovery in indoor sports contributed to the gain. The Japanese company recorded a nearly 28 percent net profit increase, a quarterly record for the company, to ¥3.5 billion (€25.3m) from ¥2.7 billion. Operating profit was 17 percent higher at ¥3.8 billion (€27.5m), aided by cost reduction measures taken over the last year.
By region, EMEA revenues declined 12 percent to ¥4.4 billion (€31.8m); rose by 12.7 percent in the Americas to ¥7.1 billion (€51.3m); increased by 8.8 percent in the home Japan market to ¥29.7 billion (¥214.8m); and improved by 19 percent in the Asia/Oceania region to ¥5.0 billion (€36.2m). By product category, equipment sales climbed by 19 percent to €13.8 billion (€99.8m); apparel revenues increased 3.1 percent to ¥13.2 billion (€95.5m); footwear sales inched up 1 percent to ¥12.3 billion (€89.0m), and service/other sales improved by 9.5 percent to ¥6.9 billion (€49.9m).
