Sales for the first half of 2022 were up by 14 percent year-on-year at Base Detall Sport, according to Palco23. The Spanish buying group’s sell-out for the period was up by 10.5 percent. Base attributes this success to the three-part plan – verticalization, digitalization, and expansion – that it adopted in March of last year and will be running through 2023. Early this year, for instance, it expanded the selection at Wanna Sneakers into fashion, adding products from such brands as Armani and Lacoste.

Geographically, the group seeks to expand into central and northern Spain. It is present for now in Levante (Spain’s Mediterranean coast), Andalusia, the Canary Islands and its home territory of Catalonia (headquarters in Barcelona). The group counts 76 associates operating about 300 stores.

Base’s sales for 2021 amounted to €58.5 million, up by 16 percent year-on-year but still below the pre-lockdown haul of 2019, which exceeded €70 million. Last year’s sell-out amounted to €140 million.
