USWE, the Swedish outdoor and sports brand known for its bounce-free backpacks, reported a jump of 253 percent in net sales to 29.3 million Swedish kronor (€2.86m-$3.37m) for the three months to June 30. It generated an operating profit before depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) of SEK 5.58 million (€0.55m-$0.64m), or a margin of 19 percent of sales, compared with a loss of SEK 198,000 in the year-ago period. The company, which went public in June on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market, swung to a pre-tax profit of SEK 5.23 million (€0.51m-$0.6m) from a loss of SEK 0.53 million (€51,771-$61,000). USWE’s CEO, Jacob Westerberg, said the demand for its products was rising from distributors and consumers providing a “positive outlook for the company’s development both for the current year and in the longer term.” He added, ”The order book is in line with our expectations, while there is a risk of a continued pandemic impact. The production and logistics situation in Asia is a challenge that could lead to further delays that could drive our deliveries between quarters.” USWE is updating its winter product range with the release of a new alpine backpack and by adding some new color options. These products will be produced in September to reach the market in the autumn, the company said. The name USWE is pronounced as “us we.”
