According to an online report by Italian trade publication Outdoor Magazine, the ski manufacturing facility in Mukachevo, Ukraine, is continuing operations during the country’s conflict with Russia, although with some limitations due to the current situation. The plant, owned by Austrian company Fischer Sports, produces skis and snowboards for its own brand as well as Rossignol, Alpina, Scott and other brands. The factory, the largest ski manufacturing facility in Europe, is said to produce about half of the skis and snowboards sold globally. Mukachevo is located in the Zakarpattia region in Western Ukraine, which is currently unaffected by the military conflict. Its activities are being impacted in many other ways, though. Refugees who escape from conflict areas are coming to the region, and around 100 male employees of the production site have been enlisted in the Ukrainian army, explains the report. This is why operational processes are being affected in various departments, resulting in limited operational capabilities. Meanwhile, the production of lining and ski boots in the Berehove site, also in Zakarpattia, is continuing without any restrictions and materials from this plant can still be sent to Mukachevo, says the report.
