Foot Locker has announced that it is about to test a new retail format called Power Store. The information has been released by the retailer's senior management during a conversation with financial analysts, according to reports by Fashion Network. The new format is supposed to offer customers an immersive experience while building a community, with an ultra-local approach. The first Power Stores are scheduled to open this summer in London and Liverpool. Further Power Store openings are expected in the U.S. toward the end of the year. In addition, five Power Stores will open in Asia, one in Hong Kong in the third quarter, followed by three in Singapore and one in Kuala Lumpur. Foot Locker currently operates 3,284 stores worldwide. The company is planning to close down about 120 stores and open about forty new ones this year, including the new, larger Power Stores.
