Foot Locker has reported a mid-single-digit sales increase in its European stores and at Runners Point, the recently acquired German retail chain, during its third quarter, ended Nov. 2. Sales of basketball shoes were particularly strong in Europe. The German market performed well, while Italy and Spain were weak. Overall, group revenues went up by 6.4 percent to $1,622 million, with an increase of 1.3 percent excluding Runners Point and currency exchange translation. Comparable store sales went up by 4.1 per cent. Net income was off slightly to $104 million for the period, but it was up 8 percent excluding one-off items. The company continues to forecast a mid-single-digit increase in comparable store sales and a double-digit gain in earnings per share for the full financial year.
