Though it has long been the country’s “king sport,” football continues to expand in Spain. Citing figures put together by the market-analysis firm Circana (now part of NPD Sports Tracking Europe), Diffusion Sport relates year-on-year double-digit rises in both sales and units moved for football apparel and shoes for the year from July 2022 to June 2023.
Like Italy, moreover, Spain saw demand and average price rise in tandem for football products. In Germany, France and the UK, by contrast, demand declined, although the increase in average price did yield higher sales.
Spain accounts for 13 percent of football-related sales in Europe’s five largest markets. About a third of Spain’s sales derive from physical stores.
